Clinton Romesha is a former United States Army staff sergeant and recipient of the Medal of Honor, the highest military decoration awarded by the United States government. He was born on August 17, 1981, in Lake City, California.

Romesha deployed to Afghanistan as part of Operation Enduring Freedom and served as a section leader in the Battle of Kamdesh on October 3, 2009. During the battle, he displayed exceptional bravery, leadership, and selflessness, leading the defense of Combat Outpost Keating against a coordinated Taliban attack.

Romesha exposed himself to heavy enemy fire multiple times to retrieve wounded soldiers and provide cover for them to be evacuated. He also led a counterattack that repelled the enemy assault and allowed for the recovery of fallen comrades.

For his courageous actions, Romesha was awarded the Medal of Honor by President Barack Obama in a ceremony held on February 11, 2013. He became one of only 11 living recipients of the Medal of Honor for actions in the Global War on Terrorism.

Since leaving the military, Romesha has become a prominent advocate for veterans' issues and an inspirational speaker. He has written a book about his experiences in the Battle of Kamdesh titled "Red Platoon: A True Story of American Valor," which was published in 2016.
